Focus and Scope

The Journal of Agricultural Sciences (Belgrade), the official Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Belgrade, publishes scientific papers in the following areas: Field and Vegetable Crop Sciences, Fruit Science and Viticulture, Animal Sciences, Soil Management, Plant Protection, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, and Agricultural Economics. The papers can be written by faculty research workers, students, and other domestic and foreign associates. The papers are published in the English and Serbian languages with the obligatory short summary in the English and Serbian languages respectively at the end of the paper. The Journal is published four times per year and the following types of contributions are published: Original research papers (regular papers/research articles), Review articles and Preliminary communication articles. The papers are reviewed by eminent scientists from Serbia and abroad.

 

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts are first read by the editor-in-chief. Only those papers that seem most likely to meet Journal`s editorial criteria are sent for formal review. Those papers judged by the editor-in-chief to be of insufficient general interest or otherwise inappropriate are rejected promptly without being reviewed.

Manuscripts judged to be of potential interest to our readership are sent for formal review. Journal of Agricultural Sciences (Belgrade) uses double-blind review system for all papers. 

The editor-in-chief then makes a decision based on the reviewers' advice, from among several possibilities:

  • Accept, with or without further revisions
  • Invite the authors to revise their manuscript to address specific problems before a final decision is reached
  • Reject, with appropriate explanation to the authors regarding the reasons for rejection.

Reviewer selection is important to the publication process, and is based on expertise, reputation, specific recommendations and previous experience with reviewers.

The journal is published quarterly.

Journal History

University of Belgrade-Faculty of Agriculture has issued this scientific paper which changed its title several times since 1948.

From 1948 to 1953 it was titled ''Annual of  Faculty of Agriculture'', and from 1953 to 1992 it was titled ''Collection of papers of Faculty of Agriculture'' and published in the Serbian language, twice per year with the numbers UDC:63 and ISSN 0522-8530.

Starting from Vol. 37, No. 1, 1992 the journal was issued in the English language titled „Review of Research Work at the Faculty of Agriculture“. The existing form and the structure of the papers of the journal were kept. The numbers were UDC:63 and  ISSN 0354-3498.

Since 12 February 1999 the journal has been issued under the  title: ''Journal of Agricultural Sciences'', starting from Vol. 44, No. 1, 1999, with numbers UDC:63 and ISSN 1450-8109.

The journal is issued in both electronic and printed forms.
